Review: Garnier Fructis Sleek Shot In-Shower Styler Made My Damaged Hair So Soft

I’ve been flat-ironing my hair for as long as I can remember. When I was 12, my parents gifted me the Remington Pro 2″ Flat Iron, and it’s been my go-to ever since. But as you can imagine, using heat on your hair every day can be super damaging — especially if you’re using a blow-dryer before going in with another hot tool. Sometimes you just want that sleek look without having to break out the flatiron. That’s where Garnier Fructis Sleek Shot In-Shower Styler comes into play.

My hair is very long and when it air-dries, it’s frizzy. It was hard for me to believe that this product would give me the same look as if I’d used a flatiron on my (mostly) dry hair. But as someone who is always in a rush, I thought that maybe this could be the thing to cut my getting ready time in half. I’ve got time for a blow-dry, but the iron? Not always. So, I gave it a go. And boy, am I glad I did.

For starters, it’s so easy to use. After saturating your hair in the shower, mix your shampoo with the Sleek Shot styler at a one-to-one ratio and then massage it into your scalp. Be sure to also give your ends some love, too. After a minute or two, rinse, and finish with your conditioner or mask.

Once you’re out of the shower, you’ll immediately notice silkier hair, but you’ll really notice the difference after you blow-dry. The secret is in the formula. The Sleek Shot is made of nourishing ingredients like argan oil and plant protein that wrap around every strand of hair, from root to tip, leaving hair hydrated and with no leftover residue.

Blow-dry your hair as usual and say hello to smoothness and shine that will last 24 hours. I normally wash my hair at night, and with this product, it looked just as fresh after sleeping on it (even my coworkers noticed a difference). Did I mention that it is under $10? Garnier Sleek Shot didn’t become one of our Best of Beauty 2019 Best Steals winners for nothin’.

And now it’s on to bigger (and better) things, as it just won a Breakthrough award in this year’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
